Baby Giraffe Born at West Midlands Safari Park

Animal keepers at West Midlands Safari Park in Worcestershire are celebrating the arrival of a baby giraffe, marking another milestone for the park’s successful breeding programme.
The newborn, named Namara, was born on 8 October to 14-year-old mother Akacia. According to staff, the calf took her first steps just 40 minutes after birth, a promising sign of good health.
Another Success for Endangered Species Conservation
The birth is part of the Giraffe European Endangered Species Programme (EEP) — an international initiative designed to conserve and protect endangered giraffe populations.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Safari Park said keepers were “delighted” by Namara’s safe arrival, adding that she will soon be introduced to the rest of the herd.
Visitors may be able to spot Namara in the outdoor yard in the coming weeks as she begins to explore her new surroundings under the watchful eye of her mother.
Park Statement

“Namara is doing brilliantly, and we’re excited for guests to meet her very soon.”
